The Mallorca Championships ATP 250 reaches its halfway point with a star-studded lineup for Wednesday’s matches

The top four seeded players in the individual draw—Daniil Medvedev, Stefanos Tsitsipas, Denis Shapovalov, and Pablo Carreño—make their debut in the round of 16, creating much anticipation since their arrival in Santa Ponça (Calvià).
The world No.1 will kick off the title defense at the Mallorca Country Club no earlier than 4:00 PM against Aslan Karatsev on the Central Court.
Medvedev, a recent finalist in the ‘s-Hertogenbosch and Halle tournaments, will try to extend his good form on grass.
Also, the ATP No.4 will take to the main court, in his case, in the second slot, to face Ilya Ivashka. Tsitsipas, coming in as the second seed, enters the only ATP tournament played on grass in southern Europe. The champion of this year’s Monte Carlo Masters seeks to improve on his preparation on this surface, following quarterfinals in Stuttgart and round of 16 in Halle, against an opponent who defeated Emil Ruusuvuori in the first round (6-4, 6-1).
Shapovalov will make his debut on the Grandstand against Benjamin Bonzo. The Canadian, seeded third and a semifinalist in the previous edition of Wimbledon, participates for the first time in the Mallorca Championships, aiming to be in the best form to defend his result in the third Grand Slam of the calendar. Meanwhile, the Frenchman started the tournament with a victory against Alejandro Tabilo, who retired due to injury (6-3, 4-2 ret.).
The action on the Central Court will kick off at 1:00 PM with Pablo Carreño taking the stage. The fourth-seeded Spaniard will face Antoine Bellier in his second appearance on the island. Last year’s Mallorca Country Club semifinalist faces an opponent who advanced from the qualifying rounds and has three wins in the tournament. with the latest one coming against Argentine Federico Delbonis (6-3, 7-6[6]).
