El Club Nàutic S’Arenal (CNA) ha experimentado una magnífica jornada de competiciones en el marco de la segunda jornada del 59º Gran Día de la Vela – Bufete Frau
Following the momentum of the exciting opening day on Saturday, this Sunday was marked by ideal weather and constant wind which created ideal conditions for the competition. With a steady south-southwesterly (llebeig) wind blowing between 10 and 14 knots throughout the day, it created the perfect backdrop for the 200 or so sailors taking part in the races.
The day went according to plan, with three exciting races in Optimist, Optimist D and Techno, complementing the three races held the previous day in each of these categories.
The start was at 12:00 hours, with the slalom races for the IQ Foil U17 and U19, which were launched solo to complete the scheduled heats. At 13:00, the races for the rest of the classes got underway, including three races for Optimist U11, Optimist D and Techno 293, as well as two races for Musto Skiff and Formula Windsurf.
Jordi Castro, member of the Regatta Committee and sports director of the Balearic Sailing Federation (FBV), has highlighted the emerging talent of the young sailors, describing them as the promising future generation of sailing.
The Musto Skiff regattas have come to an end this day, although the presentation of trophies for this category will take place next week at the end of the event. The winners Justo Martínez, Mario Barceló and Jorge R. Martín lead the final classification of this class.
The competitions will continue next Monday, with the start signal at 12 noon for all the remaining categories. According to the weather forecast, an ’embat’ wind of between 11 and 12 knots is expected, similar to the conditions of the first day.
The first phase of the 59th Gran Día de la Vela – Bufete Frau will conclude on Tuesday, with the prize-giving ceremony for the Optimist categories at the CNA facilities, scheduled for 18:30 hours.
Racing will continue from Thursday 24th to Sunday 27th August, with the Optimist U13, Optimist U16, ILCA 4, ILCA 6 and 420 classes competing.
