The 59th Gran Día de la Vela -Bufete Frau, presents its trophies.

The 59th edition of the Gran Día de la Vela – Bufete Frau in S’Arenal has concluded with an exciting prize-giving ceremony at the Club Nàutic S’Arenal (CNA).

During two intense weekends, sailors from different classes competed in exciting regattas, accompanied by parallel activities such as the Sa Milla CNA – Cala Blava open water swimming crossing. More than 800 sailors, together with 400 swimmers and sailing enthusiasts, created a lively atmosphere at the club.

The event was divided into two phases, 19-21 August and 24-27 August, with mostly favourable weather conditions. However, the last day of racing was cancelled due to a strong squall that affected the island of Mallorca, leaving the entire region on orange alert.

The final day, on 27 August, included the traditional awards ceremony where this year’s champions were honoured. Among those present were Jaume Bauzá, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sports, as well as representatives of Llucmajor town council.

The Mayoress of Llucmajor, Francisca Lascolas, presented the Rei en Jaume III Ciutat de Llucmajor Trophy to the overall winner of the regatta, Lucas Montoya (CNA), who excelled in the Optimist U16 category.

Cati Darder, president of the Balearic Sailing Federation, highlighted the importance of the event as an outstanding start to the regatta season. He highlighted the great participation and the festive atmosphere that surrounds the competition, highlighting especially the prize-giving ceremony that brings together sailors of all ages.

The event attracted sailing teams from all over Spain, including Barcelona’s Club Náutico El Balís, who praised the quality of the regatta and the treatment given to the sailors. Participants praised the social activities that fostered camaraderie and the exchange of experiences among the athletes.

Joan Sabater, sports director of the CNA, expressed his satisfaction with the success of the event, which has evolved into a unique event that combines camaraderie and a high level of competition. He also said that the next edition, which will mark the 60th anniversary of the event, will bring special surprises.

The Gran Día de la Vela – Bufete Frau, one of the first regattas in the club, celebrates the work of the season and marks the start of the new sporting season in the Balearics. This key event in the regatta calendar of the Bay of Palma is made possible thanks to the collaboration of Bufete Frau, a company with strong historical and emotional ties to the club.
