Regatta President’s Trophy 2023 – Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita (CNR)

The Club Nàutic Sa Ràpita (CNR) resumed its activity on Sunday 8th October with the President’s Trophy, a regatta that pays tribute to the club’s president and which has become a tradition for more than two decades.

The thirty or so participating boats, mostly from the Bay of Palma and the southeast of Mallorca, were preparing to compete in the Vinos J.L. Ferrer Trophy next week.

The race started under clear skies and a steady wind of 7 knots, with gusts of up to 14 knots.

This weather provided optimal conditions for sailing. At 11am, the 12 ORC class boats set off, followed nine minutes later by the 21 RI class boats. The tour, which included islets and waters of several municipalities, was exciting and picturesque.

S’Indio III and Nidea 2 were the first boats to reach the finish line in real time in the ORC and RI categories, respectively.

In the final ORC classification, Kyo V led followed by S’Indio III and Frágil V. In RI, Nidea 2, the CNR Sailing School and Bonaventura occupied the podium.

After the competition, the sailors enjoyed a barbecue of meat in the club’s marquee, where more than a hundred people gathered, providing a social atmosphere to the regatta. The winners received prizes including local products such as Campos cheeses and Mallorcan wine.

The club’s president, Pau Lladó, highlighted the beauty of the day and the participation of more than 30 entries, bringing together sailors of different ages and clubs. The sunny day and the coastal route along the shore created a fantastic picture that was enjoyed by all.

Carlos Esteller, Head of Cruising at the CNR, underlined the ease of organising events in this category due to the familiarity of the sailors with the club’s agenda. The camaraderie with other clubs such as S’Arenal and S’Estanyol contributed to making the President’s Trophy regatta a social success.
