The terrace of the Real Club N\u00e1utico de Palma (RCNP) hosted the official presentation of the 19th edition of the PalmaVela to the media this Wednesday, the 3rd of May at 13:00 hours.<\/h4>\n\n

This year it will host more than a hundred teams from 20 countries divided into fourteen categories, and will begin tomorrow, Thursday, with the first day of competition for the Maxi fleet.The event was attended by Emerico Fuster, President of the RCNP; Miguel Pastor Jord\u00e1, Director of the Fundaci\u00f3 Mallorca Turisme; Fina Santiago, Councillor for Social Affairs and Sports of the Balearic Government; Carles Gonyalons, Director General of Sports of the Government; Xabier Ramis, Director General of Maritime Transport; Joana Mar\u00eda Adrover, Councillor for Safety of the Palma City Council; and Javier Sanz, President of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation; Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Cresp\u00ed, Head of the Maritime Rescue Centre of the Palma City Council; Joana Mar\u00eda Adrover; Councillor for Safety of the Palma City Council; and Javier Sanz, President of the Royal Spanish Sailing Federation; Jos\u00e9 Ram\u00f3n Cresp\u00ed, Head of the Maritime Rescue Centre in Palma; David Echauri, Commercial Director of Majorica; and Alejandra Vanolli representing Mallorca Sotheby’s. Manuel Fraga, director of the RCNP, was in charge of welcoming the attendees and thanking them on behalf of the club. “We would like to thank all those who make it possible for us to enjoy this sporting event every year. The figures speak to us of the magnitude of this regatta: we have over 100 teams from around twenty countries with almost 1,800 sailors, as well as 200 people working on the event both at sea and at the club itself”.<\/em> For his part, Emerico Fuster, president of the club, said in his speech that “In its beginnings, PalmaVela contributed to the return of large yachts to our bay, which were later joined by the leading monotype and cruiser fleets, and today we can say that this is a regatta that is fully established in the Mediterranean regatta calendar. The organisation of international regattas is one of the functions that our club assumes as part of its work promoting the sport and its commitment to this land”.<\/em> “This year we are 75 years old. We are a heritage of this community, a strategic operator of this port and an indispensable actor in delivering social dividends through sport. Let me take this opportunity to highlight what we do and what defines us,”<\/em> added Fuster. The event was brought to a close by the Government’s councillor for Social Affairs and Sports. “The positive influence that this club has had is undeniable, and we at the ministry hope that they will continue to be present for many more years, adding value to our autonomous community,”<\/em> said Fina Santiago.<\/p>\n\n
